NARROWS – For the second time within the last few weeks, top-ranked Narrows routed Bath County with a 92-66 boys basketball Pioneer District victory in Narrows, Va. on senior night for NHS.
While the spotlight and attention was all on the seniors Friday night, it was junior Carter Holmes who was uncontainable for Narrows as he dropped a game-high 30 points on Bath County, while also reeling in 14 rebounds for a double-double performance.
Narrows (18-2, 8-0 Pioneer District) seniors Levi Smith and Kolier Pruett were the other two Green Waves who scored in double figures as Smith scored 19 and Pruett added 13. Pruett, just a week ago, became the all-time NHS scoring leader.
For Bath County (10-11, 2-7 Pioneer District) it’s been a rough go-around in district play. The Chargers outside of district games are 8-4, while in the district they sit currently in 5th with a 2-7 record.
BCHS was led by Andrew Turner who scored a team-high 25 points, including knocking down five 3-pointers. In their 71-38 loss on January 12th in Hot Springs to Narrows, Turner was the only Charger to score in double figures that night as he scored 12. Issac Ingram also scored in double digits on Friday as he added 10.
The 92 points scored by Narrows was a season-high, while it was also a season-high for Bath County in points given up.
The Chargers have two more regular season games left to go before the district tournament. BCHS hosts Parry McCluer on Tuesday for their final district game. The Fighting Blues are coming off of an 86-55 win over the Chargers in Buena Vista last Tuesday.
On Wednesday the regular season will conclude for BCHS as they head on the road to play at Pocahontas County in a non-district contest. The Chargers defeated the Warriors 61-54 in Hot Springs last Wednesday night.
BATH COUNTY (66) – A. Turner 25, I. Ingram 10, L. Turner 9, W. Campbell 7, G. Walton 7, F. DeBoe 6, O. Perdue 2.
