BUENA VISTA – In a Pioneer District boys basketball showdown on Wednesday in Buena Vista, Parry McCluer blew out Bath County 86-55.
It was a tale of the first half as the Fighting Blues dropped 60 points on the Chargers in the games first two periods.
PMHS was led by J.J. Jones, who scored a game-high 20 points. While the Fighting Blues finished with 12 players scoring points, the team only had two players in double figures as Landon Catlett added 14.
It was a rough night for Bath County despite knocking down nine 3-pointers. Andrew Turner scored a team-high 15 points, while Frankie DeBoe chipped in with 13.

HOT SPRINGS – Following their Pioneer District away loss to Parry McCluer, Bath County was back on the basketball court Wednesday in Hot Springs as the Chargers picked up a 61-54 non-district win over Pocahontas County (W.Va.).
Bath County (10-10, 2-6 Pioneer District) was led by a trio in double figures scoring as Luke Turner scored a game-high 22 points, while Andrew Turner scored 17, and Issac Ingram added 12. L. Turner and Ingram both had double-doubles as Turner reeled in 13, while Ingram had 11.
After a low-scoring first quarter (17 points total) both the Chargers and Warriors picked it up, however it was BCHS who had built a double-digit lead by the end of the first half and took a 33-22 lead into intermission.
Pocahontas County was led by Carter Vandevander who scored a team-high 13 points in the loss.
