[COVINGTON, VA] – Jackson River Technical Center Carpentry students are proud to offer hand-crafted items for sale during the holiday season for a second year. The items include cutting boards, picture frames, and serving trays. The sale will take place in the lobby of JRTC on Thursday, December 7, 2023 between 10:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on a first come, first serve, cash only basis.
JRTC Carpentry is grateful for the continued community support through the donation of materials from local business. “I’m so proud to be a part of such a caring community,” shared JRTC Carpentry Instructor Charles Fornwalt. “Local businesses continue to show up for our students through generous donations of materials and time.”
For the second year in a row, SJ Neathawk Lumber in Covington, Virginia, donated the lumber that was used to create the cutting boards. Union Church Millworks, also Covington, donated the material used to create the serving trays, and A&D Glass provided the glass used for the picture frames.
Students constructed more than 60 cutting boards, 10 serving trays, and 27 picture frames. The entire collection will be available for in-person purchases in the JRTC lobby on Thursday, December 7. Cutting boards are available at $25 each, picture frames by donation, and serving trays are available for $20 each. JRTC Carpentry students will be on-hand to assist with the purchases.
