The Virginian Review is excited to kick off our first annual Alleghany Humane Society item drive from October 19 to November 24.
Our office is the gathering point for pet products delivered by generous contributors from around the Alleghany Highlands.
Our goal is to collect 500 items and we will deliver them to the humane society just in time for the holidays!
The Virginian Review spoke with the Alleghany Humane Society, and they provided a list of what they need at the animal shelter.
Items most needed include:
1. Squeaky toys and balls for the dogs and cats
2. Dog treats and “Temptations” cat treats
3. Purina Dog Chow Complete
4. Purina Kitten Chow (in the yellow bag)
5. Purina Cat Chow (in the blue bag)
6. Alpo or Pedigree canned dog food
7. Friskies canned cat food
8. Monetary support
People wishing to donate to the item drive can drop off pet care products at The Virginian Review office at 201 W. Locust Street in Covington between 9:00 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
Please call the Alleghany Humane Society at 540-862-2436 for additional information or visit their Facebook page. For further information on our donation drive, please stop by our office or call us at 540-962-2121.
Let’s get started, then keep those items coming through the door!
