John Wesley Boone
John Wesley Boone, age 74, of 1710 Jefferson Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Sunday, October 1, 2023, at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany, Low Moor, Virginia.
John was born June 19, 1949, in Covington, Virginia to Marguerite Golden Boone Bunch and the late Edwin Boone. He was a graduate of Covington High School and a retired trooper for the Virginia State Police with 24 years of experience. He attended both Central United Methodist Church and Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church and enjoyed sports, especially the New York Yankees baseball, UNC basketball, and Notre Dame football. He was a loving family man.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Boone and a sister, Linda Andrews.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lutz Boone of Clifton Forge; his mother, Marguerite Boone Bunch of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Tracy Boone and partner Andrew of Roanoke; a son, John D. Boone and wife Drema of Covington; a stepdaughter, Theresa Snead and husband Doug of Clifton Forge; a step-son, Jefferey Conner and wife Neely of Roanoke; a brother-in-law, Skip Andrews of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Joshua Boone and partner Elvia, and Noah Boone and partner Emma; four step-grandchildren, Brittany Snead, Brooke Snead, Bryar Snead, and Evie Conner; a great-granddaughter, Holly-Mai Boone; a number of nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Glenna Toliday of London, England.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Paul Brokaw officiating. Following the service, there will be a luncheon at the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church provided for friends and family by members of the church. Interment will take place at 3:00 PM in Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Organ Cave, WV. Pallbearers will be Dave Oeltjen, J. D. Williams, John Boone, Joshua Boone, Noah Boone, and Doug Snead. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
