HOT SPRINGS – Another week, another momentous Football game it was for the Bath County Chargers (4-0) at Carl F. Williams Field Friday night.

Bath County improved to 4-0 on the season after steamrolling through the Meadow Bridge Wildcats 48-0.

The victory for the Bath County was the first time that the program pitched a shutout since October 18, 2019, when the Chargers shutout Craig County at home 45-0.

One of the biggest reasons for this amazing start to the team’s success this year is junior Wyatt Campbell.

In Friday’s win over Meadow Bridge, Campbell paced Bath County with another next-level performance as he put together six total touchdowns. It was only two weeks ago against Page County that Campbell put together a career-high seven total touchdowns.

Through the first four games, Campbell has a total of 21 touchdowns.

Opposing defenses have trouble slowing down the Bath County offense led by Campbell who tends to razzle and dazzle his opponents with his leg work and agility. In the win over Meadow Bridge, Campbell showcased his arm as he threw for 185 yards along with four touchdown passes. Campbell added two rushing touchdowns on 81 yards.

Two of Campbell’s touchdown passes went to senior Andrew Turner. One of the two touchdown receptions went for 85 yards as Campbell connected with Turner on a deep ball pass near the end of the first half. Turner finished the game with three receptions for team-high 128 yards receiving, and the pair of touchdowns. In extra point attempts, Turner finished the game making six of his seven attempts.

Also hitting the highlight reel were Bransen Gordon and Ethan Bryant who had touchdown receptions. Meanwhile, Luke Bryant reached the endzone for his third rushing touchdown of the season which came on a 69-yard run. Turner avoided being brought down on three occasions during the touchdown run before finally breaking free down the right side.

The last time Bath County started 4-0 was during the 2003 season. This Friday the Chargers will look to make it 5-0 when the head on the road to face the Roanoke Catholic Celtics. It’s been four years since the two programs met. In 2019 the Celtics defeated the Chargers in Hot Springs 72-7.
