HIGHLAND COUNTY, Va. (VR) – Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash, which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Wednesday, (Sept 13) at 12:15 a.m. on Route 84, four miles west of Route 600 in Highland County.
A 2018 Ford F-150 was traveling east on Route 84, when the vehicle crossed the centerline and ran off the left side of the roadway, striking a tree.
The driver was identified as Earl Mack Mayfield, 75 of Charlton Heights, WV. Mr. Mayfield was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
