As the House wrapped up the District Work Period last week, House Republicans have been gearing up to meet the many challenges ahead to fund the federal government and to complete the annual appropriation bills. In addition, we will continue our oversight of the Biden Administration and their conduct of the border, the economy, and a weaponized federal government. On a brighter note, we paused to reflect on the heroes who served our Nation on Victory Over Japan Day and visited the Nature’s Touch Frozen Foods facility in Front Royal. As we head into a busy few weeks of session, I will continue fighting for the best interests of Virginia’s Sixth District, and for the good of our great Nation.
Fighting for Fiscal Responsibility in Washington
President Biden’s reckless government spending continues to spiral out-of-control and it’s only worsening our already fragile economy. According to a recent report, the U.S. federal budget deficit is expected to double to $2 trillion dollars this year as a result of higher interest rates under his failed economic policies.
That’s why the appropriations process is so important, with just 11 legislative days to pass 11 appropriations bills and avoid a government shutdown. This will require hard work and making tough decisions on where to cut back on spending to pay for what’s important, just like American families have to do every day. Rest assured, as a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will fight to restore fiscal sanity, root out government waste, and get our Nation back on a path to economic prosperity.

Prices At The Pump Continue To Soar
With gas prices soaring, hardworking families in Virginia and across America are still struggling to fill up their tanks and make ends meet. Unfortunately, instead of unleashing our domestic energy production to lower prices at the pump, the Biden Administration announced that they canceled all Trump-era existing oil and gas leases in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This move will not only raise gas prices even more, but it will also hurt American workers, job creators, and families.
House Republicans know that energy independence is the key to a strong economy for America. That’s why earlier this year we passed H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act — which will make energy more affordable by increasing domestic energy production, reforming the permitting process, and reversing Biden’s anti-energy policies. While the D.C. Democrats have no plans to address these issues, we’re fighting to fix it.
Nature’s Touch Frozen Foods
Nature’s Touch Frozen Foods produces quality frozen fruits and vegetables for businesses and consumers. I enjoyed touring their plant in Front Royal this week and learning more about their work in the food industry.
Victory Over Japan Day
78 years ago, Allied forces declared victory over Japan, marking the end of World War II. In commemoration of this historic day, we honor all those who served our great Nation and their families. May we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of freedom.
Labor Day
As we celebrated Labor Day and our Nation’s workforce this week, we also celebrated the Right-To-Work laws right here in the Commonwealth. These laws ensure that no one is forced to join a union and pay dues to keep or get a job, which has led to more opportunity and better jobs for workers.
