CLIFTON FORGE—Special Theatrical Artists Revue & Showcase (STARS) will perform “Inspiration,” a variety show, at Good News Church on Main in Covington on Sunday, Aug. 27, at 3:00 p.m.
“Inspiration” will be co-directed by Paula Crance and Sonya Romanello. Chris Fisher will serve as the emcee.
STARS was founded in 1996 by Appalfolks of America Association (AAA), a 501 ( c ) 3 nonprofit organization founded in Clifton Forge by M. Ray Allen in 1985, and the troupe of performers who face intellectual challenges and/or have physical disabilities has grown from 10 to 30 members since its debut at The Historic Masonic Theatre in 1996.
The troupe performs up to three variety shows per year, and AAA’s 2006 documentary film titled “STARS” won a Bronze Telly Award.
No advance tickets will be sold. There will be an admission charge of $6 at the door, or attendees may make a donation of any amount.
Allen remarked, “I wish to thank WestRock and the Town of Clifton Forge for their ongoing support of STARS.”
“Also, I thank Good News Church on Main for opening its doors to STARS and allowing AAA to use its facility to stage STARS’ shows,” Allen concluded.
