Kathryn Zicafoose Thurston, age 76, of Glen Wilton, Virginia died Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington.
She was born June 22, 1944 in Lewisburg, West Virginia to the late Nelson Dana and Zella Hayes Zicafoose.  
She was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant and a member of Glen Wilton United Methodist Church.  She was also a member of Glen Wilton Fire Department and Vice President of the Locust Bottom Cemetery Committee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Johnson; her mother-in-law, Lillie Thurston; and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Thurston.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Thurston of Glen Wilton; two daughters, Debbie Thurston of Glen Wilton and Laura Thurston of Lexington; a son, Brian Thurston and his wife Amberly of Glen Wilton; a sister, Patsy Monroe of Clifton Forge; a brother, Danny Zicafoose and wife Barbara of Troutville; four grandchildren, Dillon Sydenstricker, Jamie Robertson, Mia Thurston, and Kora Thurston; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated.  
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Ray Sandifer officiating.  The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Glen Wilton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 85, Glen Wilton, VA  24438 or to Glen Wilton Fire Department, P.O. Box 71, Glen Wilton, VA  24438.
