CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (VR) – Four Hokies competed in the UVA Orange & Blue Classic and four played in the Elon Invitational to kick off fall play. 

Ilyas Fahim, Carson Baker, Eyal Shumilov and Blake Hilsen headed to Charlottesville for the weekend, each competing in a singles and doubles match Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 

No. 109 Fahim went undefeated in singles throughout the weekend, and picked up a ranked win over Virginia’s No. 32 Andres Santamarta Roig on Sunday. No. 89 doubles pair Hilsen and Shumilov went undefeated on the weekend as well. 

Over in Elon, N.C., Drew Fishback, Gevorg Mnatsakayan, Nicolas Iantosca and Thomás Brandão competed. The squad played in singles and doubles on Friday, singles on Saturday and doubles on Sunday.

Mnasakayan and Iantosca combined for an undefeated weekend in doubles. 

The Hokies continue their fall in the upcoming weekend, playing in Chowderfest in Cambridge, Mass. Sept. 18-20, as well as the ITA All-American Championship in Tulsa, Okla. which begins Sept. 19.
