Mr. William Joseph “Billy” Groves, 40, of Covington, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020. 
He was the husband of Amy Wolfe Groves.
Billy was born March 27, 1980, in Maryland, the son of John William Groves II and Pamela Jean Harvey Groves. 
He was employed as a railcar supervisor at Rescar.  
For a number of years, Billy volunteered with the local recreation leagues helping area youth with basketball, baseball, football and travel AAU — he touched the lives of many people during his life.   
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to cheer for the Washington Redskins and Georgia Bulldogs.  
Billy was a wonderful father to Brady and Walker and a wonderful husband to Amy, his greatest joy was being a family man and his life revolves around his wife and his boys.  
He was a superior caregiver, provider, husband and father.
In addition to his parents and wife, Billy is survived by two sons, Brady Lee Groves and Walker Joseph Groves; a brother, Robbie Pressley of Roanoke; a sister, Becky Groves of Covington; four nephews, Lucas Laviolette, Levi Laviolette, Lane William Groves and Kaiden Carson; two nieces, Montanna Hall and Nicole Carson; his best friend, Kevin Carson; his two very special friends, Lelia Tacy and “Dory” Heidi Williams; and his children at heart, Tristan Hall, Stacy Tacy, Jaun Miller, Kim Via, Jabari Williams, “Tank” Darian Williams, Rebecca Williams, Nick Humphreys, Brandon Ramsey, Nolan Via and Jaycob Haynes.
Billy was preceded in death by his father-in-love and best friend, Donald “Buck” Wolfe and mother- in-love, “Mama” Judy Wolfe; paternal grandparents, John and Evelyn Groves and James and Bertie Wolfe Burgess; aunt, Sharon Brookman; uncle, Lonnie May; special cousin, David Hall; maternal grandfather, Junior Walter Harvey; maternal grandparents, Ernie and Frances Harvey Livesay; uncle, Walter William “Bill” Harvey; uncle, Benny Pickett; and other special aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland and the Rev. Garland Humphries officiating.  Interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marshall Williams, Chad Tacy, Chris Via, Clyde McDaniel, Robbie Pressley, Scottie Hubbard, Kevin Carson and Ray McCaleb. 
Honorary pallbearers will be Tristan Hall, Jaun Miller, Jabari Williams, Beaver Hicks, Bill Craft, Alex Laviolette, Rocky Hicks and Rocky Williams.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home and at other times at the residence, 432 E. Phillip Street, Covington.
