In preparation for the upcoming outage at the Covington mill, Recovery will shut down the No. 2 Recovery Boiler tonight around 6 p.m. and No. 1 Recovery Boiler tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. There may be a short period of steam blows causing noise during the shutdowns and possibly some odor noticeable in the area.
The waste heat evaporator will be shut down later in the week and that may cause some odor and noise until July 17 at approximately noon when it is brought back up.
On July 16, the No. 1 Recovery Unit will be starting up and steam blows will be loud during this time. On July 17, the No. 2 Recovery Unit will be starting up and steam blows will be loud during this time.
We will work to minimize noise/odor to the community during this outage. However, there is a possibility that steam pop-offs could occur when equipment is shut down and brought back online.
