Dave and I  moved to Virginia ten years ago with the assumption that when Dave retired in four years, we would move over to Agusta County, where we have family living; Family is what brought us to this area.

Well… I was looking for a job that brought me some happiness and joy. I had left a position in the court system as a clerk of the court back in Kansas, which wore on me. Constantly putting up with protection orders or garnishments was not a fun time. I was close to retirement age myself. So who was going to hire someone like me?

Shortly after moving here, I met some young ladies and one day, we did a “Good Will Hunting Tour” to Roanoke. I realized there was a need for a store in our town where folks could come and shop without spending tons of money on quality items. I did not want a typical thrift store where the smells of the last owners still lingered. But something fun, and I discovered the Consignment side of life. A great place to shop, where everyone can make some money, and it’s a great way to recycle! That was 9 years ago, on the first of July, and now, I’ve just signed a new lease, and we will be celebrating our ninth anniversary, despite the pandemic.

Livy’s Closet offers ladies’ clothing, jewelry, shoes, home decor items and the best candles ever! From Tuesday thru Saturday, you can shop at Livy’s, which opens from 9:30 – 5:00 through the week, and from 10-4 on the weekend. We love having the front door open and inviting you in!

In 9 years, we have seen some changes to Clifton Forge, and I have to say, largely for the good. Livy’s Closet has been an inspiration to me. I enjoy doing the window, chatting with patrons, and watching this town thrive. I don’t know what I’d change if anything, more foot traffic perhaps, but who knows, maybe this is what God intended for me… I’ve met some wonderful folks here at Livy’s and in Clifton Forge, and that’s something that you cannot trade for all the gold in the world.

Take some time to come in and enjoy what Livy’s has to offer. We love our customers!
