On Wednesday, June 21st the Valley Baseball League announced its 2023 VBL All-Star rosters for the North and South divisions which will feature three Covington Lumberjacks.
The 2023 VBL All-Star game took place on Sunday, June 25th in Front Royal at Bing Crosby Stadium (we’ll have that in our Thursday edition).
Among the all-star selections for the Jacks’ were pitcher Brian Garmon II, infielder Gregory Melo, and outfielder Michael Pavelchak.
In three starts on the mound this season, Garmon II is 0-0 with a 4.84 ERA, where he has nine strikeouts in 13 innings pitched.
At the plate, Melo is slashing the ball with a .442 batting average. Melo has one home run with nine RBIs in 12 games. Melo has 19 hits in 43 at bats.
Second year Lumberjack, Pavelchak is having a tremendous season at the plate as well with a .346 batting average. In 13 games, Pavelchak has 18 hits and three RBIs, where he also has six stolen bases in nine attempts.
The 2022 VBL ASG was originally set for Front Royal in 2022, but the game was washed out.
