n May 27th, KARS Unlimited held its third annual Veterans in the Park tribute to honor all the fallen veterans from the Alleghany Highlands area. Proceeds from this event went to three local VFW posts: Covington, Clifton Forge and Bath County. The cars are always fascinating, and the food is always good. As part of their celebration, Kars also gives a free lunch to all veterans in attendance.
The ceremony opened with the singing of The National Anthem by 11-year-old Kaliyah Hall. Remarks from Kars Unlimited President, Mike Dabbs, and Curtis A Smih spokesman, Bill Atherholt, Post Quartermaster followed. The “Military Medley” was played, and all branches of service were recognized. This is always a heartwarming part of any veteran observance.
