COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The public is invited to participate in the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 4, on the steps of City Hall in Covington at 12 p.m., led by area pastors and guests. In case of rain, it will be held across the street at Good News Church on Main.
The National Day of Prayer was set by an act of Congress when they set aside the first Thursday in May each year. Americans all over the country are called by a presidential announcement to pray for the nation’s safety, strength, and protection as one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all.
The theme this year is “The Effective Fervent Prayer of a Righteous Man Avails Much,” James 5:16B. Organizers rejoice in the knowledge that there will be millions of prayers prayed from tens of thousands of gatherings across America and around the world as they gather to pray on this day.
