On March 8th, the AHRL Afternoon Book Club hosted the Honors 12 English Class from Alleghany High School for a discussion of the novel, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
The novel is an inspirational tale of self-discovery and tells the story of a boy who yearns to travel in search of treasure. The boy’s journey teaches about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, recognizing opportunity, and, most importantly, following our dreams.
The book was selected to generate discussion about the journey of life and to see the perspective of that journey interpreted by people of different ages.
The book discussion was led by Josh Hagy, and the program was sponsored by the Friends of the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library who provided a copy of the book for each participant and lunch for the group.
