COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Sheriff Kevin W. Hall, Alleghany County/city of Covington, has been appointed to Virginia State Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s Governor’s Substance Abuse Service Council (SASC), effective Wednesday, Mar. 22.
“I am grateful to appoint this talented group of individuals to important positions across the Commonwealth,” said Youngkin of his administration appointments. “I look forward to seeing the work they do in the service of Virginia,” added Youngkin in a press release.
“I’m very honored to be appointed by Gov. Youngkin as the Virginia Sheriff’s Association representative on this Council”, said Hall of his appointment. “I will use my expertise in substance abuse and law enforcement to work with stakeholders to advise on ways to control substance abuses.”
The SASC was established as an advisory council in the executive branch of state government. The purpose of the Council is to advise and make recommendations to the governor, the general assembly and the State Board of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services on broad policies and goals and on the coordination of the commonwealth’s public and private efforts to control substance abuse.
