Editor’s Note: Letters regarding the upcoming election will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 24. Letters pertaining to the election which are received after that date will not be published.
              ——————————————————————-
              Dear Editor,
We are a nation of people at the “crossroads.” We stand in the “valley of decision,” (Joel 3.14), and God has placed before us “life and death” and with an outstretched merciful hand, He beckons us to “choose life.”
May I encourage you to read these Old Testament passages in your personal quiet time and consider the implications. Although they were written for the nation of Israel, they are still applicable and very much timely for us today.
By extension they are our examples today and for all generations that follow. 1 Corinthians 10.11, “These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.”
God is still judging nations and people, and there will come a day when the people of all nations will stand before Him to give account of what we have done in this body, in the brief time granted us. May I also suggest that, what we are experiencing played out in our nations cities and streets, is not merely about American politics, feminism, social justice, and racial equality.
What we are witnessing is a “spiritual manifestation” of evil, lawlessness, unbridled lust and murder on public display. It is “spiritual wickedness” manifesting itself in human form. Ephesians 6.12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
We are blind to the fact that this is indeed “spiritual warfare” if we fail to acknowledge the choice is “life or death, light and darkness,” God’s truths of good and spiritual life and eternal life or Satan’s lies of freedom in lust, perversion, lawlessness and murder that lead to spiritual death and eternal darkness.
It is not by chance that this president has been placed in the position he is in. It is God, fulfilling His redemptive plan for all of humanity. It is for His purposes, for such a time as this, that the man Trump is in office. God’s divine providence has placed us at this pivotal moment in our nation’s history, divided and spiritually blind, unaware of God’s judgement already at work.
It is not blind hatred driving the “dump Trump” mob, what is truly driving the “anti-Trump” agenda is a “antichrist” spirit dominating and controlling people with fully functioning consciouses. A spirit that usurps the authority of God at work in the conscious, excusing or accusing our thoughts, motives, and actions, in other words they have “exchanged the truth of God for a lie” Romans 1.25.
A lying spirit that seeks to deceive and mislead, a lustful spirit that seeks to pervert and degrade, a prideful spirit that seeks to promote and condone evil over good, a hateful spirit that seeks to divide and conquer, a destructive spirit that brings with it desolation and death. Romans 1.18 is the clarion call “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
I ask this question in closing: “When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Psalm 11.3
If it is in your power to do, what would you do? The spiritual significance at the heart of man’s choices has always been the supernatural struggle between “the Children of Light and the Children of Darkness.” Period.
              Sincerely,
              Al Jackson

              Low Moor

              Dear Editor,
I am still wondering when the Joint School Services Committee is going to reveal the details of the 300 people who have been questioned via phone on the school-merger issue?
Who has been contacted and what was their opinion on the merger? The public has a right to know.
              Sincerely,
              Becky Woodson
