In a very brief called meeting, Monday evening, the Alleghany Highlands School Board voted, unanimously, on two agenda items before going into closed session. Immediately, after calling the meeting to order, Chairperson Jacob Wright called for a motion to approve Marie Fitzpatrick’s participation in the meeting via telephone, due to an illness. With a unanimous vote in the affirmative, the meeting continued with the Board voting to increase
attendees for AHHA students to Philadelphia, March 20-21 and to approve a resolution of recognition and appreciation for Kevin Rice, upon his retirement, for his outstanding service to the Alleghany High School and the consolidated Alleghany Highlands Public Schools. Rice was not present at the meeting.
Wright then called for a motion to adjourn the meeting and enter closed session. Items to be discussed during closed session were as follows: Personnel matters/actual and potential appointments, assignments, resignations, terminations, salaries, and including superintendent position; student matters/discussion and consideration of disciplinary matters, including pupil personnel case no. 23-59; legal matters/discussion briefings by staff members pertaining to actual or probable litigation; discussion of school safety reports; and disposition of student case no. 23-59.
