Raymond Carter “Jim” Tucker, Sr., 90, of 600 Montgomery Knob Road died Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at his home.
Mr. Tucker was born September 9, 1930, in Alleghany County a son of the late Robert Lee and Myrtle Tingler Tucker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Baldy” Tucker, Sr, a grandson Kenny Tucker and a daughter-in-law, Marie Tucker, seven brothers and three sisters.
He had retired in 1980 as a brakeman after over 25 years with the C&O Railroad. He was a longtime member and Trustee of the Mountain Valley United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his Wife of 69 years, Nadine Bailey Tucker, of Covington; one Son, Raymond C. Tucker, Jr. of Covington; three Daughters and Sons-in-law, Rose and Randy “Boo” Selleck; Helen “Sister” and Charlie Selleck and Becky and Ray Richardson, all of Covington; two Brothers,; Robert Lee Tucker, Jr. of Roanoke and George “Buzzy Tucker of Covington; two Sisters, Bertha “Sissy” Borgies and Thelma Wright, both of Roanoke; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 2:00 PM in the Tucker Family Cemetery on Montgomery Knob Road with the Rev. Jonathan Greer officiating assisted by the Rev. H. Ray Tucker.
