James Richard Paitsel of Covington, died Friday, November 20, 2020, at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC. He was the husband of Rhonda Cross Paitsel.
Mr. Paitsel was born in Alleghany County, the son of the late Marshall Donald and Helen Plott Paitsel.
During his working career, he was employed as a manager for the C-Mart service station. Richard enjoyed cars, hunting, fishing, but most importantly, telling everyone else how they should do things.
Mr. Paitsel is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Rhonda Cross Paitsel; one son, Scott Allen Paitsel and wife Natasha of Covington; six grandchildren, Kelsey Zimmerman, Ryan Zimmerman, Brantley Paitsel, Dalton Holt, Sophia Holt and Bentley Holt; two brothers, Robert Lee Paitsel and Michael Dale Paitsel; one sister, Dreama “Susie” Swink and a special daughter, Amanda Paitsel.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Paitsel was preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald Wayne Paitsel and David Allen Paitsel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Alleghany Memorial Park with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Covington Fire Department and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 588, Covington.
