Her dominating freshman campaign continued this past Saturday at the East Coast Elite Indoor Track Meet at VMI, as Kiera Lowman broke the Alleghany High School indoor track 1000 meter run record.
With a time of 3:15.38, Lowman broke Cheyenne Nicely’s 1000 meter run record. Lowman finished in 10th place overall.
Lowman also broker her own school record earlier on by beating her 1600 meter run mark with a time of 5:25.70. Lowman also finished 10th in the 1600.
The Mountaineers also had two more boys runners earn state meet spots; Connor McPeek qualified for the state meet in the 55 meter dash and Andrew Craft qualified for the state meet in the long jump.
While individually, the Mountaineers added two more state meet runners, the team qualified for the state meet in the boys 4×200 and 4×400.
The 4×400 team of McPeek, Craft, Brady Prior, and Brennon Mahon set a new Alleghany High School record with a time of 3:40.52.
The Mountaineers and Covington Cougars were on the track at Roanoke College last night.
