February 16 through February 18 and February 20 through February 22, The Historic Masonic Theatre will turn into a haven for quilters—beginners, intermediate and advanced—when internationally known quilter, Kaye England shares her knowledge and inspiration at the fourth “Quilt Winter Blues Away with Kaye” Quilt Retreat.
Kaye returns to teach the methods for “REMEMBER ME” (82”x 98”) quilt along with many additional techniques, lectures, and demos. Registration includes pattern, morning and afternoon breaks, continental breakfasts, lunches, and dinners and students may register until February 14.
The first Retreat has been sold out for months, so Kaye decided to offer a second retreat from February 20 to 22 and several spaces are available in the second retreat. Quilters from over fourteen different states are attending.
Kaye England began quilt making and fabric collecting in earnest in the early 1980’s but was influenced early on by a family of needleworkers. She now designs fabrics for Wilmington Prints and heads her own publishing company, Kaye England Publications. Kaye has traveled the world conducting sold-out lectures and workshops showcasing her wonderful and infectious fabrics, patterns and quilts, as well as her unique and honest outlook on life. Kaye can also be seen on several episodes of HGTV’s Simply Quilts, and Craftsy. Kaye has been described as a colorful individual generating enthusiasm and excitement in her work and having great fun in the process. Despite a hectic schedule, Kaye always finds time to quilt. She has written 13 books and has produced four feature-length instructional DVD’s using rulers in quilting, piecing and patchwork techniques. Several years ago, she began online teaching with her “Staycation” series of classes. Kaye was born and raised on a farm in Glasgow, Kentucky. She now resides in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has two children, six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, one great-grandson and llamas and goats.
For the third year in a row, Kaye has donated a quilt to be raffled and the money will be donated to The Historic Masonic Theatre. The quilt, “Reflected Harmony” is a beautiful queen-sized quilt featuring Rhapsody in Reds fabrics from Kaye England’s quilt design fabric is a specially-designed quilt made from a variety of triangle blocks – from half-square triangles and flying geese to diamond-in-a-square and economy blocks (like double-diamonds-in-squares).
