LOW MOOR, VA (VR) — Prekindergarten students at Jeter-Watson Elementary School learned an important lesson when they delivered some holiday cheer to Ridgeline Physical Therapy on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

The students and their teachers boarded a bus and traveled to Low Moor to decorate Ridgeline’s Christmas tree. They also serenaded the Ridgeline staff with some holiday jingles.

Pre-K teachers at Edgemont organized the trip as a community-service project for their students. The project was an important part of the STREAMin3 Curriculum, which uses interactions and activities to boost students’ learning and development.

“Through this project students were encouraged to give back to the community that supports them, and foster a sense of togetherness with these individuals and businesses,” said Amanda M. Taylor, a prekindergarten teacher at Edgemont.

Taylor worked with Jenn Easton Nicely of Ridgeline to coordinate the trip. The tree, with all of its trimmings, can be seen by patients and visitors when they enter Ridgeline’s main lobby.

“Decorating the Christmas tree at Ridgeline gave the students a chance to give back to their community, and brighten the spirits of all who visit Ridgeline,” Taylor said.

The visit brought laughter and smiles to the staff members as they interacted with the students and watched them put their decorating skills into action.

“We were delighted to have the students come and decorate our tree,” said Carissa Broughman, director of Ridgeline’s Low Moor clinic. “We thank the teachers at Jeter-Watson Elementary School for helping to deliver some holiday cheer not only to our staff, but also to the patients who saw the beautifully decorated tree in the lobby. This was a wonderful experience, and seeing the tree still brings smiles to our faces.”

Several photos of the students’ visit to Ridgeline can be viewed on Facebook and Instagram. The division’s Facebook page is “AHPublicSchools.” The Instagram page is “ahpublicschools.”
