In the Class 1, Region C high school football first round on Thursday, the Galax Maroon Tide (7-3) shutout the Bath County Chargers (4-7), 49-0.
It was the first time this season that the Chargers were shutout in a game.
The Chargers offense was held to a season-low of 25 yards, while Wyatt Campbell who had a sensational sophomore season, was held to just 11 yards passing.
While the Chargers season came to an end at 4-7, it marked the first time since the 2018 season that the Chargers won at least four games. The program will be a team to lookout for come next season.
For the Maroon Tide, they grabbed a big day on offense with 451 yards.
The rushing attack is was set the tone of the game for the Maroon Tide who had 400 rushing yards.
Leading the way rushing was Tedruhn Tucker who had 240 yards with four touchdown runs. Brady Lowe added 94 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Ayden Stiltner had 73 yards and reached the end zone once.
The Maroon Tide were a perfect 7-for-7 on extra points.
The Maroon Tide led 21-0 at halftime.
#4 seeded Grayson County Blue Devils who beat #5 seeded Giles will now play the Maroon Tide this week where the winner will play in the regional championship against either Narrows or George Wythe.
