In a Youth Football finish for the ages, Devin Anderson helped guide Alleghany West to a 19-18 victory over Buena Vista in the B League Super Bowl Championship on Thursday evening.
Heading into the fourth quarter and down double digits, Alyx Stevens rushed into the end zone from 25-yards for Alleghany West’s first score of the game which sliced the deficit in half to 12-6.
With time winding down in the game and still trailing by a touchdown, it was Anderson this time who found the end zone with just a second remaining to tie the game at 12-12.
In overtime, it was Anderson once again who found the end zone to give Alleghany their first lead of the game at 18-12. Anderson then completed the conversion to put Alleghany West up 19-12.
Alleghany West went on a 19-0 scoring run from the fourth quarter on.
After Alleghany West scored the first points of overtime, it was Buena Vista’s turn to try and tie the game.
Buena Vista, who led 12-0 scored on two Braddic Brockenbrough touchdowns, grabbed a third touchdown from Brockenbrough which cut their deficit to one point at 19-18.
Needing to convert the conversion to keep the game going, Brockenbrough came up short near the goal line by Ben Milton and Landon Wells who stopped him to win the championship.
After the game, Alleghany West hosted the championship in celebration.
