That was Friday nights game between the Covington Cougars (0-7/0-2) and the Narrows Green Wave.
Last season, the Cougars defeated the Green Wave after Aiden McGothlin threw an interception that was picked off by Purcel Turner who returned to the end zone to seal the Cougars victory.
On Friday, at Boodie Albert Stadium, the roles were reversed.
After trailing by 16 points at halftime, the Green Wave rallied from a 22-6 deficit to outscore the Cougars 38-16 in the second half.
In a revenge game, McGlothlin had a career day for the Green Wave as he threw for six touchdowns along with 348 yards on 19 completed passes.
No touchdown was bigger for McGlothlin than his sixth.
Trailing 38-36, McGlothlin connected with Carson Crigger for a 46-yard touchdown in the final minutes of the game. The Green Wave converted their 2pt conversion to go up touchdown score at 44-38.
It was the first time the Green Wave took the lead all game long.
It was the Cougars turn now.
Desmond Jordan brought the Cougars into the Green Wave territory at the 30 yard line. With a little over a minute remaining, Jordan looking to tie the game threw an interception in the end zone.
Following the interception, the Green Wave would pick up a first down on their next drive and would be able to run the clock out to finish off their come from behind victory.
While this game will be remembered for the Green Wave comeback, it was also a career night for Purcel Turner who posted a career high of five touchdowns. Turner had a team high 111 yards rushing, and 127 yards receiving come off of eight catches. Turner finished the game with 304 total yards of offense. Meanwhile, Jordan had another solid performance with a season-high 178 passing yards as he completed 12 of his 15 passes. Jordan had two touchdown passes.
The Cougars host the Parry McCluer Fighting Blues who shutout the Craig County Rockets on Friday 20-0. This home game for the Cougars will be the schools final ever home game for Covington High School.
