For the first time since the 2018 season, the Bath County Chargers (3-4/2-0) have won three games.
After a 2-1 start to their season, the Chargers dropped three in a row on the road to fall to 2-4.
This past Friday, in their return home to Carl F. Williams Field, the Chargers came charging back and blew out the Eastern Montgomery Mustangs (2-5/1-1) 33-13 to pick up a big Pioneer District victory and improve to 2-0 in the district.
Kamoy Stone set the tone of the game as he returned the ball 75 yards on the games ensuing kickoff.
The Mustangs would not recover following the opening kickoff as the Chargers dominated the entire first half on both sides of the ball on their way to a 26-6 lead.
Stone and Wyatt Campbell were duel threats on offense and defense which caused headaches for the Mustangs as they could not contain either player.
Campbell who has all season long been able to cause defensive confusion for teams, while avoiding being brought down with his leg movement and agility had another four touchdown performance.
On the ground, Campbell had 157 yards rushing with one touchdown rush, while completing five of his 12 passes for 78 yards and two touchdown passes, one to Stone and the other to Caiden Offer. Campbell also had an interception that he returned to the end zone.
Meanwhile, Stone who started it all against the Mustangs had just as good of a performance all around as he had a two touchdown performance and also on the defensive side of the ball had an interception. In the ground attack, Stone added 68 yards rushing.
The Chargers who are 0-3 on the road this season are back on the road this Friday for a big district meeting with the Craig County Rockets (2-3/0-2). The Rockets are coming off of a 20-0 shutout loss to the Parry McCluer Fighting Blues.
