Strike up the band and warm up your voices as Covington High School alumni unite for the final time to march onto Casey Field playing “Onward Cougars.” They will be joined by the many alumni choir members to sing together our Alma Mater. What a night to remember this will be.
The City of Covington and Old Towne will join forces to celebrate the 110th birthday of Covington High School prior to the September 30th football game between CHS and Grayson. What a fitting night to celebrate the final homecoming event and a very special “final” king and queen of Covington High School. It will bring back great memories for all alumni and your homecoming.
Our hearts will be sad that this is the last time we can “come home” to Covington High School, so let’s make it the biggest and best one ever! Please, come early as tickets will only be sold at the gate. Ticket cost is $6.00.
Saturday, October 1st, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. we will celebrate our “All Classes” Reunion on Casey Field. There will numerous events planned to include high school tours and memorabilia from the genealogical society and historical society. More details to follow as we finalize our plans. There will be honored guests and our local VFW Post 1033 will be honoring veteran from “all classes”.
Put your dancing shoes on as we’ll be playing music from all generations (1940s to today). All older members remember Glenn Miller’s In the Mood and the younger generations listen to the sounds of Ariana Grande. Blue and gold swag and decorations of all types will cover Casey Field end to end. Imagine all that blue and gold! Imagine all that fun!
Each class will be assigned its own space. Classes will provide their own canopy and can decorate to fit their class and generation. The spaces will be set up by year so you will have a mini reunion within the BIG reunion. Pack your picnic lunches and dress in your blue and gold best. If you prefer, the latest fashion from “back in the day”. We all remember poodle skirts and young men in their “rolled up” shirt sleeves. We look forward to hearing from you and having you be a part of this special salute to Covington High School.
We are reaching out to local businesses and community members who are interested in having their food truck on site to be a part of the big celebration. Anyone interested please contact Linda Morrison at 540-581-2773 or lmorrison20@gmail.com.
Please, participate in the alumni band and alumni choir. One song and we all know what that is. Let the Cougars keep marching onward. There have been so many talented folks over the years in the bands and choirs. We know there are a lot of you who might like to play on Casey Field one more time for old time’s sake. We don’t want to forget all those who led the band twirling batons and flag waving, or cheer groups on the sidelines leading the crowds with their energy and love of Cougar Nation. We invite you to participate in one or both days!
Please, contact julie@oldetowncovington.com, rylee@oldetowncovington.com, J.T Stanley or Rylee Reynolds on FB messenger, or call the Olde Town Covington office at 540-969-4424 (return call may not come from this number if long distance). We are reaching out to borrow instruments and equipment as needed but need enough time to do that.
We have reached out to graduates from 1942 forward. Anyone who graduated before 1970, please contact Marian Paxton at 843-496-2664 or marianpaxton@gmail.com.
All CHS graduates from 1970 through 2022 please contact Julie Stanley.
We encourage all classes to reach out to their fellow classmates and appoint a contact person to help us get an estimated head count so we can ensure adequate table space. The event has received overwhelming support and we are very excited by the potential attendance. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL IN BLUE AND GOLD!!
