Susan Darlene Taylor Kennedy, age 55, of 1302 S. Crawford Avenue, Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
She was born August 12, 1966, in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to Jerry and Darlene Tyler Taylor. Susan graduated from Covington High School in 1984 and from Florida State College at Jacksonville with honors. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Susan recently moved back to Virginia to be closer to her family and friends in the Alleghany Highlands. Susan was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. She adored her family and her orange cat, Cheeto. Susan loved bike riding, visiting the beach, traveling with her camper, cooking, time at the river, the Virginia Tech Hokies, and unselfishly caring for others.
In addition to her parents, Jerry and Darlene of Covington, she is survived by her husband of 31 years, David Wayne Kennedy of Covington; a son, Jeremy David Kennedy and significant other, Elizabeth Boyer of Roanoke; a brother, Jerry Ray Taylor, Jr. and wife Debbie of Clifton Forge; the late Janet Taylor Armentrout and husband Cliff of Iron Gate; six nieces and nephews, Lauren Taylor Hanna and husband Robert, Ashby Taylor and wife Jordan, Hannah Taylor Pauley and husband Jeremiah, Tyler Makauskas, Andrew Makauskas, and Callie Armentrout; eight great nieces and nephews, who referred to her as “Susu”; a number of special cousins; and her lifetime best friend, Tarie Warlitner.
In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A combined service will be held in memory of Susan Taylor Kennedy and Janet Taylor Armentrout on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church in Covington at 1:00 p.m. for friends and family.
