For the Lady Mounties, the dream season came to an end.
Despite the loss in the state semi-finals, it was the best season in Alleghany girls soccer history.

The Lady Mounties also won the regular season district title and they also won the Region 2C championship for the first time.

It was the first time since April 28th that the team was held to just one goal. That day resulted in a 1-1 tie with Radford.
In Friday’s other Class 2 semi-finals game, the Glenvar Highlanders knocked off Luray 5-1. Rhyan Harris scored three goals within the first 10 minutes for the Highlanders, while Giuliana Stanley provided two goals in the second half.
In the state championship game, the Highlanders would go on to defeat the Islanders 2-1.
