Ingevity is the first corporate contributor to join this year’s Give Local Alleghany Highlands. The company will be sending $1,500 to the nonprofit organization that raises the most money between 8 AM and 9 AM on June 7th. This one-hour fundraising sprint is one of six “power hours” that will take place during the event and represents a portion of the $35,000 in prizes that will be available for nonprofit organizations to win during this big day of giving.
Taking place on June 7th, Give Local Alleghany Highlands is an online, 24-hour fundraising event. This fundraiser will give all participating nonprofits an electronic platform to receive donations from local philanthropists, businesses, and community members.
The Ingevity gift reflects its corporate philanthropic mission of being a positive influence in the communities where it operates as well as its broader corporate mission of providing products and technologies that purify, protect, and enhance the world around us.
“The Alleghany Foundation and the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism are excited to have Ingevity’s support in this important community initiative, and we hope that all of our area nonprofits and community members will join in this opportunity to have a little fun and provide much-needed support to the organizations that so enhance the quality of life in this area,” said Susan W. Rollinson, Ph.D., President, The Alleghany Foundation Board of Directors.
Aside from the $9,000 that will be awarded to nonprofits through these fundraising “power hours,” The Alleghany Foundation will also be awarding $16,000 to the nonprofits that raise the most money overall on June 7th, and $3,000 will be awarded in randomly drawn $200 “golden tickets” that will be selected every hour between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM on June 7th. The Alleghany Foundation will also evenly divide a $7,000 prize pool between all nonprofit organizations that receive at least ten donations during Give Local Alleghany Highlands.
The competitive prizes will be split up between large and small nonprofits organizations to ensure that groups of all sizes are able to participate in Give Local Alleghany Highlands. More information about the prizes available during Give Local Alleghany Highlands is available at givelocalah.org .
“These prizes encourage participation of the nonprofit organizations and also encourage giving by community members whose individual gifts can help their favorite groups compete for the one of the prizes,” said Mary Fant Donnan, Executive Director, The Alleghany Foundation.
Nonprofit organizations with programs that serve the residents of Alleghany County and the City of Covington can register at givelocalah.org between now and May 13th. Donations can be made by going to givelocalah.org, and selecting a participating nonprofit on June 7th.
