Wildfires Are 100 Percent Contained

The U.S. Forest Service this morning reported 100 percent containment of wildfires in the Highlands region. The fires broke out over Easter weekend and grew rapidly due to high winds and low humidity levels. In all, firefighters spent more than a week battling six wildfires throughout Virginia, with the largest being at Rich Hole in Alleghany County. The Forest Service estimates that the Rich Hole Fire damaged 15,454 acres.

Dick Clark, Tv And New Year’s Eve Icon, Dead At Age 82
