After coming off of their second loss of the season last Friday to William Byrd, the Alleghany Lady Mountaineers (5-2) on the road bounced back while needing overtime to get past the Radford Bobcats on Monday night by the final score of 1-0.
After tightly battled 85+ minutes of back and forth action between the two schools, senior, Kinley Eggleston, in overtime, knocked in her 17th goal of the season to lift her team to their fifth win of the season. The goal was assisted in overtime by senior, Carlee Lanford.
The Lady Mounties finished the game with a total of 18 steals in the win. Sophomore, Abby Williams, led the team in steals with a team-high five. Meanwhile, senior, Payton Reynolds, finished with four steals.
Senior goalkeeper, Emma Williams, had a standout performance on the net with a seven saves in the win. It was Williams fifth shutout on the season.
As the Lady Mounties improved to 5-2 overall on the season, the team improved to 5-0 against teams not named William Byrd. In the Lady Mounties victories, the team has pitched shutouts.
On Thursday, the Lady Mounties will look to improve on their overtime victory as the team returns home to host the Floyd County Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m.
