Mrs. Jean Gordon Thacker, age 85, of Hot Springs, died Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the Woodlands Nursing Home, Clifton Forge. She was the wife of the late Kubelik Thacker.
Mrs. Thacker was born March 1, 1936, in Covington, the daughter of the late John Jacob Gordon and Della Hinton Gordon. She was a graduate of Covington High School. Jean was employed as a member of the cafeteria and maintenance staff by Henry County School System. Following her retirement in 1999, Mrs. Thacker returned to this area. Jean was a member of Sinking Springs Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Women of the Church. She loved the outdoors. Jean liked growing flowers and vegetables and sharing them with her friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Thacker was survived by two brothers, James Thomas Gordon of Covington and Delanor Lee Gordon of Tennessee, two grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Thacker was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah C. Kingery; a brother, John William Gordon; and three sisters, Eleanor G. Sappe, Mary Margaret Whitehead and Patricia Nadine Geld Macher.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 7, 2022, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Chris Fisher officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
