Jana Allen Finishes Filming for “George & Tammy”

Jana Allen, a 2000 graduate of Alleghany High School, has completed filming her scene in “George & Tammy,” the SPECTRUM movie directed by John Hillcoat.

Her speaking role is in a scene with Jessica Chastain who portrays Tammy Wynette.

Allen earned her B.S. degree in video broadcasting from Liberty University in 2003, and she gained experience by working as a radio host at 90.9 FM WWMC and 88.3 FM WRVL in Lynchburg.

Also, she gained experience as a TV reporter by working for WTKR, Norfolk, before moving to Manhattan where she completed a two-year Meisner program at the William Esper Studio.

Represented by Avenue B Talent (NY) and Stewart Talent in Atlanta, Ga., Jana has performed in more than 30 films and TV programs.

She has performed in supporting roles in “The Bleeding,” “The Taking of Deborah Logan,” “The Hollow,” “Get Out,” and “Fear Street Trilogy.”

Her lead roles include, “Remember Yesterday: A Wilmington Love Story,” “Your Worst Nightmare,” “The Tracker,” and “A Gift from a Yankee.”

Also, she has co-starred in “The Office: Roy’s Wedding,” “Vice Principals,” “Shots Fired,” “Mr. Mercedes,” “Genius: Aretha Franklin,” “Creepshow,” “Long Slow Exhale,” “Welcome to Flatch” and “Eastbound and Down.”

Additionally, she has landed reoccurring roles in “The First Lady,” “The Righteous Gemstones” and “Manhunt Unabomber.”

As a trained soprano, she has performed as a vocalist at El Cid in Hollywood, the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg, Ky., the Natural Bridge Historic Hotel and Conference Center’s Washington Hall, and The Historic Masonic Theatre.

Currently, she serves as emcee and vocalist as a member of The Virginia Opry, Virginia’s official Opry. Also, she is the spokesperson for The Virginia Opry.

As for her stage performances, she has performed as Natalia Stepanovna in “The Marriage Proposal” at the Cape Fear Playhouse and at the North Theater in Danville where she portrayed Cecily in “The Importance of Being Earnest.

Locally, she has performed as Jill in the Missoula Children’s Theater’s production of “Johnny Appleseed,” an Alleghany Highlands Arts Council presentation in Curfman Hall and several roles in plays staged in The Historic Masonic Theatre where she got her start as a vocalist and actress in “A Musical Tribute to the Railroad, a 1992 production staged when she was a sixth-grader.

Jana is married to Lieutenant Colonel Doug Bahrns of the U.S. Marine Corps, and the couple will soon be moving from Snead’s Ferry, N.C. to Montgomery, Ala. after he returns from his deployment in Japan.
