Coming off of their first win of the season on Tuesday night, the Bath County Chargers varsity volleyball team was shutout on the road by the Buffalo Gap Bison.
It was the second time this season the Bison shutout the Chargers. The team shut the out the first game of the season.
The Chargers though did not make it easy though for the Bison.
After losing the first set 25-17, the Chargers made the Bison earn each point in the second and third sets, as a total of five only points was the difference in the final two sets.
The loss on Thursday was the Chargers fourth of the season in only five games played.
The team has been shutout in all four of their losses.
The lone win thus far for the Chargers came on Tuesday night against the Alleghany Mountaineers.
The Mountaineers had defeated the Chargers the week prior.
This time around they went the distance on Tuesday night and kept each set close to where either school could have won the match.
After each team kept swapping victories and losses in the first four sets, the Chargers ended up winning the final two sets including the decisive set 16-14.
In the Chargers loss on Thursday to the Bison, freshman, Laken Tingler had a team high nine kills. It was her second highest on the season. As a team, the Chargers had 30 kills in the game.
Tingler also added two blocks, 15 digs, and 20 receptions to her stat line.
The Chargers had a total of six blocks in the game. Junior Kayleigh Vess and sophomore Lindsay Oliver along with Tingler as mentioned, each had two blocks.
Despite the loss, senior Cami Keyser had a season high 31 digs. The team had 73 in the game.
Keyser also had 27 receptions.
Senior Chelsey Lowry added her second most assists in a match this season with 19.
The Chargers are back on the volleyball court this Tuesday with a home match against the visiting Craig County Rockets.
