The 43rd annual Streetscene is coming back to downtown Covington this year. The event is paying tribute to Covington businessman Victor Cucci. Victor was well known and loved by the community and supported Streetscene from the very beginning. In fact, in the early 1980s the original Streetscene Saturday Night celebration was held at Cucci’s Pizzeria.
Kars Unlimited has been hosting the annual car show in Covington since 1979. The event is known for its large number of vehicles of all types, multiple vendors and entertainment, and of course fun for the entire family.
The fun begins Friday at the River Rock Amphitheater with a Pre-Streetscene Party. The party before the big show on Saturday will kick off at 6 p.m. and will feature a cruise-in and a live performance by THE FENDER BENDERS 2.0. The FENDER BENDERS 2.0 will be performing a variety of classic rock, southern rock, blues rock, and country music. This will be a high-energy performance that you will not want to miss. In addition to the cruise in and musical performance, there will be food service and activities for kids. This event is totally FREE to the public.
On Saturday, Main Street, Maple Avenue, Court Street, and the Mid-City Mall will be filled with muscle cars, street rods, trucks, modern performance cars, motorcycles and more. In fact, Streetscene is open to any type of vehicle.
Registration opens at 7 a.m. and costs $12, with an extra fee of $1 for each additional vehicle. Visitors will be treated to the sights of both classic and modern automobiles lining the picturesque setting of Covington’s historic downtown district.
Streetscene is not just about cars, however. There will be multiple food and merchandise vendors, a live D.J., multiple activities for children, and a large raffle and 50/50 drawing.
Those entering cars in the 43rd Annual Streetscene will also receive a commemorative dash plaque and will be eligible for door prizes and cash give-aways.
The 43rd annual Streetscene will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free to spectators.
At the close of the car show activities will shift to the River Rock Amphitheater from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the Streetscene Saturday Night . This event will feature a performance by FIVE DOLLAR SHAKE, a Roanoke-based band that specializes in oldies and classic rock music. FIVE DOLLAR SHAKE promises to put on an unforgettable show and is sure to have everyone dancing by night’s end.
In addition to the live performance, the STREETSCENE SATURDAY NIGHT CONCERT will feature a 50/50 drawing, cash give-aways for car show entrants who bring their car to the concert, a flat-screen TV give away, and a raffle for an EAA Churchill 12-gauge shotgun.
