Today’s Headline: Jenkins Holds Millboro Hitless.
Valley High’s Jackie Jenkins withstood rain squalls, seven bases on balls and at times inept fielding by his Hornet mates yesterday to throw an 8-4 District O no-hitter at visiting Millboro.
Mrs. A.T. Jones recently visited with her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Ayers in Roanoke.

State and national forest officials have reported three fires have taken place in Alleghany County since Saturday damaging over 40 acres.
Clifton Forge City Council has resolved to apply for a $700,000 Virginia Community Development Block Grant for improvements in the Smith Creek-Dry Run neighborhoods during a called meeting yesterday afternoon.

Today’s Headline: Harvey Inks Deal With U.Va.-Wise.
Amber Harvey, a Bath County High School senior, has signed a scholarship to play softball at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise Thursday at Bath County High School.
Members of the Covington Rescue Squad won first place in the Advanced Life Support contest during the recent Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads’ District 1 meeting held April 23 in Covington.
