Today’s Headline: Fire Damages Funeral Home In Covington.
Fire which began about 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon damaged the R.M. Loving Funeral Home on Lexington Street to the extent of more than $3,000.
Mrs. Meredith Leitch and little son, Meredith Jr. of Staunton, are the guests of Mrs. Leitch’s mother, Mrs. Jessie McClung on Main Street.

Today’s Headline: T.J. Viars Will Be Principal At Clifton Forge High School.
Theodore J. Viars has been elected principal of Clifton Forge High School, effective July 1st. He will succeed Carroll F. Adams.
Mrs. Helen Horne had as luncheon guests Thursday, Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Benjamin and Mrs. V.L. Southall.

Today’s Headline: Covington Council Closes City Recreation Sites.
Covington City Council voted last night to curtail recreational programs and close city parks until adequate liability insurance can be obtained following cancellation of the city’s policy.
The Jordan Mines Extension Club held its first meeting on Thursday, April 17 in the home of Renee Hepler.

John “Jimmie” Sanders was honored by more than 75 friends and business associates Thursday night during a farewell event at the Clifton Forge Shrine Club.
