Today’s Headline: Civic Group Urges Highway Officials.
A group representing the cities of Covington, Clifton Forge and Alleghany County met with state officials to discuss the road program which was set up at a recent meeting of the Area Road Committee.
Wanda Jane Bush is ill with scarlet fever at her home here.

Today’s Headline: Alleghany High School Honor Graduates Named.
Theresa O’Doherty has been named Valedictorian of the 1986 Class at Alleghany High School and Nicholas Edward George has been named Salutatorian.
School Principal Randolph S. Scott announced Friday that O’Doherty has the highest average in the 290-member class and George the second.

Today’s Headline: ‘Rookie’ Educator Learns More Than He Teaches.
Alleghany High School agriculture students turned the tables on their “rookie teacher” on Wednesday. The “rookie” was Alleghany County School Superintendent Dr. Bob Grimesey.
Alleghany Community Theater will hold a Talent Search Friday and Saturday at Curfman Hall in Covington High School. The Talent Search will begin at 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
