Today’s Headline: Expect Dolly Ann CCC Camp To Be Closed.
Local authorities have been notified that the extinction of the CCC camp at Dolly Ann is slated for April of this year. Under the president’s plan, eight if the states 24 camps will be closed.
Dr. Paul Revercomb of Charleston, W.Va., is spending several days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Revercomb on Riverside Avenue in Covington.

The Covington Volunteer Fire Department, at its 59th annual dinner meeting, presented an engraved plaque to department President H.W. Robertson Sr.
Raymond Dressler, who is with the U.S. Navy, has returned to his station after spending the weekend with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S.H. Riddleberger.

Today’s Headline: Local Seats Open In Spring Voting.
A total of four candidates have filed for seats on Covington City Council, five have qualified for election in Clifton Forge and two members of the Iron Gate Town Council have filed for re-election.
Lt. Col. Edwin Dooley of Virginia Military Institute will be the guest speaker at the Covington Kiwanis Club Thursday night at the Holiday Inn.

Kathy Childs has been promoted to the position of Administrative Assistant with the Covington office of First National Bank. Childs has over 20 years of banking experience in the areas of teller, customer service representative and loan administration.
Tim King of Eagle Rock has purchased the area’s first 2006 Pontiac Solstice from Alleghany Motors.
