At a special session of Covington Town Council yesterday, the W.W. Draper Company was awarded the contract for the second section in the Covington road construction project. The bid was $63,555.50.
Mrs. Raymond E. Sanders entertained yesterday in her home on McCormick Street with a beautifully-appointed luncheon for the members of the McCormick Street bridge club.

Covington’s parking problems will be studied and possible solutions recommended by a joint committee of the Retail Merchants Association and the Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs. Ed Meeks and children recently visited her mother in Durbin, W.Va. and her father, who is ill in the Elkins Hospital.

Today’s Headline: Housing Authority Identifies Dilapidated Structures.
Since its organization almost a year ago, the Covington Redevelopment and Housing Authority has begun necessary work to identify dilapidated houses in the city so that the structures can be removed to allow for positive development in the city.
James Tingler has been an outpatient at Alleghany Regional Hospital recently.

Today’s Headline: May or November Election In C.F.?
Clifton Forge may have to hold a May election even though the General Assembly has approved a charter change to move the town’s elections to November.
Falling Spring Elementary School held its annual Family Reading Night January 27. The theme was “Kingdom of Reading: Where Books Rule.” It was attended by over 250 people.
