The Covington Fire Department was called to the CSX rail yard Monday for an electrical fire on board a locomotive.
Covington Fire Chief Wes Walker said the small fire was extinguished using a dry powder, due to an abundance of electrical equipment on board the locomotive.
Damage was estimated at $2,000.
The fire department was called to the scene at approximately 11 a.m.
The locomotive was heading east pulling coal.
When the fire was detected, the engineer stopped the locomotive on the main line near the C&O Depot on Maple Avenue.
