The Shadow
ROANOKE, Va. (VR) – Angels of Assisi is continuing to care for the dogs removed from an Iron Gate home, but the rescue said one of the 16 dogs has died after its health deteriorated.
The dog was euthanized after medical examinations and ultrasounds showed that her condition had progressed too far to save her.
The remaining 15 dogs are receiving ongoing medical treatment, grooming and daily care as they recover. Angels of Assisi said infections and other medical concerns remain, but the rescue remains committed to helping the dogs through their recovery.
The dogs are also being provided with soft food, blankets, toys and treats as they adjust to life outside the conditions they were rescued from.
The rescue thanked those who have supported the dogs and said the original name, the “Iron Gate 16,” will continue to be used in honor of the dog that was lost.
“Her life mattered,” the rescue said.
There is a link on their Facebook page for donations to help cover the cost of care, they can be reached at 540-344-8707 or angels@angelsofassisi.org
