LOW MOOR, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany boys cross country team earned a first-place finish Wednesday evening at the Shenandoah Quad at Clifton Academy, scoring 45 points.
Cole Bowser led the Cougars with a fifth-place finish in the varsity boys 5,000-meter race in 18:24.31. Maddox Hale was sixth in 18:32.72, followed by Levi Bartley in seventh at 18:38.15 and Lincoln Rosales in eighth at 18:49.14.
Braedan Lemons finished 19th in 20:10.76, while Nolan Rosales was 21st in 20:22.12. Carter Wyatt placed 26th in 21:37.38, Everett Craft was 31st in 22:06.72, Levi Wilkerson finished 35th in 22:28.42 and Jacob Graham was 43rd in 23:50.75.
Faith Barron paced the Alleghany girls with a first-place finish in the varsity 5,000 meters, crossing in 20:11.29. Maggie Hensley finished fifth in 21:55.85.
Willow Morgan was 11th in 23:07.49, followed by Annebelle Williams in 12th at 23:18.75. Adrienne Downs finished 16th in 23:59.91, with Madilyn Via 17th in 24:06.23.
Kaylee Snook placed 20th in 24:26.70, Alexandra Downs was 21st in 24:28.54, Charlotte Taylor finished 22nd in 24:31.15, Avery Spinks was 24th in 25:09.20, Carlea Weikle placed 28th in 25:29.27 and Ava Ledford finished 44th in 29:14.47.
The Alleghany girls finished second with 45 points.
Oliver Brown led the middle school boys in the 3,000 meters, winning in 11:34.35. Graham Kenny finished second in 11:51.99, while Noah Dean placed fourth in 12:17.72.
Price Thompson finished fifth in 13:16.91, followed by Jaxon Via in sixth at 13:17.24, Ezra Smart in seventh at 13:54.84 and Carson Bogan in eighth at 13:59.52. James Hodges was 10th in 14:46.91, Benji Grimes finished 11th in 15:08.29 and Finnley Rosales was 13th in 17:16.77.
Kennedy Brown led the middle school girls with a third-place finish in 13:40.64. Haley Jonas was fourth in 14:09.58, Claire McGraw placed sixth in 14:58.57, Mariella Rosales was eighth in 15:35.91 and Camila Lopez finished 10th in 16:42.05.
The middle school girls finished second with 31 points.
“We are very pleased with our results at Clifton Academy,” cross country head coach Jeremy Bartley told the Virginian Review. “The boys got a hard fought win that we’ve been waiting for and the girls are about one point from winning the district. We’re gonna continue working hard and it’s going to pay off in October.”
