BATH COUNTY, Va. (VR)  — Bath County High School is working to bring back a longtime rivalry tradition with Pocahontas County High School known as “Pass the Buck.”

The tradition involved a deer shoulder mount being passed between the two schools following games as a way to celebrate the rivalry and school spirit. BCHS recently asked the community for a donated deer mount to help revive the tradition and received several generous offers.

With multiple mounts offered, the school will now select a winner. The person donating the winning mount will receive a season pass to Bath County High School athletic events for the 2026-27 school year. Mr. Joey Altizer’s carpentry class will create the plaque for the mount.

Those wishing to have a deer mount considered should submit photos to kylieb@bath.k12.va.us or send them through BCHS Facebook Messenger by Tuesday, Sept. 1.
