Co-Owner Of Kerns Construction Company Dies At Age Of Age 75

Parker Payne Tucker, 75, of 4289 Castile Road, died, Monday, April 2, 2018, at his residence.
He was born July 31, 1942, in Alleghany County, a son of the late Robert L. Tucker and Myrtle Tingler Tucker.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Wife of 45 years, Judy Mae Saylor Tucker, in 2008; his adopted parents, D.D and Ruth Kerns; six brothers, Robert L. “Baldy” Tucker, Everett Tucker, Sr., Charles K. Tucker, Harry E. “Fudge” Tucker, Sr., James Howard Tucker and Ben Lee Tucker,   and three sisters, Mattie Evelyn Givens, Betty Jane Vint and Mary Odelle  Tucker.
Mr. Tucker was Co-Owner of D.D. Kerns, Inc. having been with the company for 55 years.
Surviving are two Sons, William “Humpy” Tucker  and Parker “PJ” Tucker, Jr. and Scott Martin all of Covington; three Daughters, Ida Mae Brown and her husband, Earl Lee Brown,  Cheryl “Sissy” Smith and her husband, Tommy, all of Covington  and  Megan LeAnn Campbell  of Roanoke;   four Brothers,  Robert L. Tucker of Roanoke,   Kenton Tucker of Iron Gate, Jim and Nadine Tucker  and  George and  Eva Tucker all of Covington;   two Sisters, Bertha Borgies  and  Thelma Wright, both of Roanoke;  fourteen grandchildren,  Rachel and  Brandon Jones,  Larry Wayne Campbell,  Wesley Campbell,  Kevin and Nikki Walton, Jamie Campbell,  Joshua Brown,  William Mason Tucker and   Benjamin Brown,  all of Covington,     Joseph and Chelsea Campbell of Fairbanks, Alaska,  Donavan Brown,  Journee Kern,  Willow Kern  and  Lincoln Kern, all of Roanoke;  five great grandchildren  and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, April   5, 2018,  at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. H. Ray Tucker officiating assisted by the Rev Lee Dotson.
Interment will be made in Lone Star Cemetery.
The family will receive their friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Arritt Funeral Home
